Blattner Robotics and Automation Lab

The Blattner Robotics Lab is a dynamic, state-of-the-art facility equipped with industry-standard automation and control systems.

Students gain invaluable hands-on experience in robotics by working with advanced automation technologies in a real-world setting.

At the heart of the lab are a FANUC six-axis robotic arm and two Epson SCARA robot arms, which offer students the opportunity to engage in complex, multi-axis motion control. This enables them to program and operate some of the most widely used industrial robots.

The lab also features a Universal Robotics collaborative robot (co-bot), providing a versatile, safety-conscious platform for exploring human-robot interactions in shared workspaces.

To support the learning of process automation, the lab is equipped with a Dorner conveyor system that integrates seamlessly with the robotic systems, allowing students to study material handling and production flow in a controlled environment. Additionally, machine vision equipment aids in object recognition, quality control, and spatial awareness. Safety relays and laser area scanners ensure the lab environment adheres to stringent industrial safety standards.

Allen-Bradley PLCs offer students practical experience in programming and controlling complex automated systems, making the Blattner Robotics Lab an essential training ground for the next generation of automation and robotics engineers.
