Tommie Civil Club: Forging Connections Through Networking and Hands-On Activities

The Tommie Civil Club offers students the opportunity to make real-world connections with the civil engineering industry through networking, professional development, hands-on activities and competitions.

Student club members organize and attend events such as guest lectures, site visits and workshops. Through the Tommie Civil Club, members can build relationships and gain mentorship opportunities with civil engineering professionals and alumni. Active involvement in the club often leads directly to internships and full-time job opportunities through the connections made with industry professionals.

Tommie Civil Club is the home for student chapters of professional civil engineering societies, such as ASCE and APWA. We also house the competition teams including Concrete Canoe (ASCE), Steel Bridge (ASCE/AISC), and Concrete Bowling Ball (ACI).

Tommie Civil Concrete Canoe Club members work on a project.

Concrete Canoe Competition Club

The ASCE Concrete Canoe Competition is an annual event organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers, where students design, build, and race a canoe made entirely of concrete!
