Atmospheric Water Generator

Project Summary

There is an increasing shortage of fresh water in the world. Many farms are experiencing drought, causing damage to their crops. Water costs are also going up for many people at an alarming rate. The sponsor desires a device that captures atmospheric moisture for non-potable use. As there is a great deal of water in the air, this would be the ideal way to get water cheaply.

Design Goal

Team 11’s goal is to create a portable, power-efficient, novel device that captures moisture from the air and is operable in an agricultural environment.

Design Constraints

  • Prototype less than 35lbs.
  • Off-the-shelf materials
  • Operate in temperature range of 32 to 125 degrees Farenheit
  • Does not release CO2 during operation
  • Collects at least 2 gallons of water per day
  • Uses 12V DC battery
  • Stores daily water production
