Engineering Scholarships

In addition to the scholarships and financial aid offered through the university, alternative sources, and other federal and state programs, the School of Engineering offers several scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students studying or planning on studying engineering.

Engineering Board of Governors Summit Scholarship

Application Deadline: March 5, 2026

A $10,000 Engineering Board of Governors Scholarship is competitively awarded to an entering first-time, first-year student planning to major in engineering. Applicants must complete a special scholarship application and an application for admission by the deadline. This award is renewable for three more years for a total of $40,000.

Application Deadline: March 5, 2026

A $10,000 Engineering Board of Governors Scholarship is competitively awarded to an entering first-time, first-year student planning to major in engineering. Transfer Student Scholarships

  • Summit Engineering Scholarships

    Priority will be given to students who are admitted and have a complete FAFSA on file by June 1. 
    The Summit Engineering Scholarship Program provides up to $10,000 per year for academically talented transfer students from U.S. two-year colleges who have unmet financial need and wish to pursue an engineering degree at St. Thomas.

  • APEX Engineering Scholarships

    All applications received by April 30 will be given equal consideration with award announced in May.
    The Alternative Pathways to Excellence (APEX) Engineering Scholarship Program is designed to support the needs of low-income engineering students. Each scholarship provides an annual award of up to $10,000, is renewable for up to two more years to support the final years of study, and can be combined with other St. Thomas scholarships and federal aid.

Over fifty undergraduate scholarships valued between $250 and $4,000 are made available for returning engineering students each academic year.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in engineering at the University of St. Thomas and complete the online application by the deadline.

Some of the scholarships have criteria based on financial need. Financial need is determined via students’ annual FAFSA forms, so applicants who wish to be considered for need-based scholarships should be sure to complete the FAFSA each year.
