Minnesota Department of Commerce Grant

A $3.6 million grant from the Minnesota Renewable Development Account through the Minnesota Department of Commerce to the University of St. Thomas Center for Microgrid Research to:

  • Increase the center's capacity to provide industry partners opportunities to test near-commercial microgrid products on a real-world scale and to multiply opportunities for innovative research.
  • Procure advanced equipment and controls to enable the extension of the university's microgrid to additional buildings.
  • Expand hands-on educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering students to increase understanding of microgrid operations, and partnerships with community colleges.
