One of the best ways to learn about our evening master's degrees in electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, regulatory science, systems engineering or technology management is to attend an information session. In these sessions, you can learn more about St. Thomas, the different master’s degrees, and the application process and requirements. You will have the opportunity to get your questions answered by School of Engineering faculty and staff.

You can begin your studies in any of our fall, spring or summer* terms so you can apply and start your graduate program right away.

Streamlined Admission Process

Entrance exams are not needed to apply (like GRE or GMAT). You can apply If you have completed a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. institution or international equivalent in ANY discipline with an overall GPA of 2.7 or higher.

Faculty - Program Directors

Each master’s degree program in Engineering has its own program director. Program directors are chosen as leaders in industry, passionate about their program and their students. This person will be your advisor and mentor throughout your graduate program. Meet each of them below.

Hassan Salamy - Electrical Engineering

Dr. Hassan Salamy is an associate professor and program director of the M.S. in Electrical Engineering program at St. Thomas. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Salamy has taught courses in computer, electrical and software engineering and computer science. His research interests focus on embedded systems, high performance computing, computer architecture, Internet of Things, robotics, and engineering education.

Bob Bach - Manufacturing Engineering

Mr. Bob Bach is a program director in the M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering program. Prior to teaching at St. Thomas, Bob was a senior manufacturing engineer working on design-to-production transfer for medical devices including tissue heart valves, ablation catheters, pacing leads, and optical devices that can see and measure coronary arteries.

John Abraham - Mechanical Engineering

Dr. John Abraham is a professor and program director of the M.S. in Mechanical Engineering program at St. Thomas. John’s special expertise includes medical devices, climate change, heat transfer and fluid flow processes, and thermal design. He has produced over 350 publications, including peer-reviewed journal papers, books, book chapters, patents, and conference presentations.

Mike Winegar - Regulatory Science

Mr. Winegar is the Program Director, M.S. in Regulatory Science. Mr. Winegar's primary focus is in the areas of medical device regulatory affairs, clinical research, and quality assurance. He has more than thirty years of experience with global medical device and biotechnology companies, with a particular emphasis on neurovascular, cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and regenerative medicine technologies.

Bob Monson - Systems Engineering

Dr. Monson serves as the Program Director of the Systems Engineering program at the University of St. Thomas. Bob has focused his work in mechanical design, software development, controls development, modeling and simulation, thermal systems, shock and vibration systems, systems design and engineering management. He is currently employed at Medtronic in the Systems Engineering group.

Brad Reinboldt - Technology Management

Brad Reinboldt is the current program director of the M.S. in Technology Management program at St. Thomas. Brad has over 20 years experience in the information systems arena with expertise in the computing, networking, and storage sectors. He has held development and technical management roles in companies ranging from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar organizations. This includes high-speed memory subsystem designer for IBM mainframes, product engineer at Seagate Technology in disk drive head design, and more.

The School of Engineering

On the St. Paul Campus

The School of Engineering at St. Thomas is located on what is called “South Campus”. We have several buildings that house facilities and classrooms. Our main engineering office, graduate admissions office, graduate student services, program director offices, and classrooms are located in O’Shaughnessy Science Hall (OSS). We also have classrooms in the Facilities and Design Center (FDC), Owens Science Center (OWS) and the Binz Refectory.

We have convenient parking right outside our door or under cover across the street at the Anderson Parking Facility.
