Take me to TommieBotUrban Roots is a local youth development program whose mission is to cultivate and empower youth through nature, healthy food, and community. This project is to be integrated in their Market Garden program, where crops are produced through urban agriculture. The project consists of outfitting a passenger van, which transport staff and tools to any of their five local garden plots. The problem to be solved is to find and implement a singular, portable solution for the staff to have shade coverings that can be used during their breaks and an effective way to wash their hands while working in the gardens at every plot.
Urban Roots require a sufficient shade structure and wash station incorporated onto an existing van to be used at all garden plots. The solution must operate intuitively, use water efficiently, and cannot take valuable space inside the van.
